Completed in rural Hebei, this low-tech greenhouse grafted onto a traditional farmhouse explores how domestic space can serve as both water and thermal infrastructure. It captures stormwater for household use and irrigation, reducing municipal reliance by up to 30% during the monsoon season, while moderating climate year-round by warming in winter and cooling in summer. Built with four local farmers—part-time construction workers, like many in rural China—using handsaws, manual drills, and stick welders, the project holds thermal comfort, water resilience, and rural knowledge together through welded joints, bolted frames, and shared intent.
