sky hopinka water is an experimental film told from the perspective of a fish bought at petco and kept inside its plastic bag. the fish drifts through a series of encounters - carried across city streets, suspended in trees, floating in rivers, brought to the edge of the ocean, passing through tunnels. its fragile, transparent container becomes both vessel and prison: a microcosm that shapes its perception of the world.

the film draws a parallel between the fish and ourselves—humans living within invisible boundaries, mistaking the plastic bag for the entirety of existence. outside lies a vast, complex reality, one we can glimpse but rarely inhabit. water becomes a meditation on confinement and possibility, on the tension between fragile enclosures and the larger worlds they conceal.
