the village grows a room reimagines the greenhouse as a shared living room for plants and people. locally sourced wetland-based biomaterials shape both its construction and architectural language: alder forms the primary timber structure, while reed becomes roll-up screens and bundled seating.

used with minimal transformation, the materials retain their grain, texture, and connection to the wet landscapes from which they come. simple, separable assemblies allow parts to be repaired, replaced, or reused as they weather at different rates. rainwater collected by the transparent roof supports planting below, linking material circularity, cultivation, maintenance, and everyday gathering within one shared space.
